Functions

Phase Commutation: Dynamically switches stator coil currents based on rotor position (via Hall sensors or sensorless back-EMF) to maintain continuous rotation.
Speed Control: Regulates motor speed using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to adjust the average voltage applied to the stator windings.
Torque & Current Control: Limits peak current to protect electronics and regulates torque output (via Scalar V/f, Block Commutation, or Field-Oriented Control).
Direction Management: Alters the switching sequence of the inverter bridge (MOSFETs/IGBTs) to reverse motor rotation.
Regenerative Braking: Converts kinetic energy back into electrical energy during deceleration, charging the power supply while slowing the motor.
Position Sensing & Feedback: Tracks real-time rotor angle using sensors or back-EMF zero-crossing detection for precise closed-loop timing.
Fault Protection: Monitors system metrics to trigger shut-offs during over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, or stalled rotor conditions.
